Projets

Studio Florero contemplates the balance between beauty and function finding quiet meaning in ordinary things. Adornment, in this sense, is not excess, but a reminder of presence.

Belt of Venus 2024

Belt of Venus is a natural phenomenon that appears just before sunrise or after sunset.
When the sun sinks below the horizon, a soft pink glow rises above the earth’s shadow.
It marks the meeting of day and night, lasting only a few minutes — as if time were gently stretched.
I like pink, gentle yet stubborn, it softens a space and makes it breathe.
In nerikomi, different clays find their own balance; the patterns lie between experience and chance, like the dialogue between tea and vessel, where time slows down.

The Fragments of Summer Solstice 2024

The summer solstice marks the longest day of the year, and it’s my favorite moment.

The lingering light and late sunset make time feel stretched. Through lines and colors, I try to capture that illusion of summer, its light, warmth, and quiet rhythm.

Each piece uses nerikomi and slip techniques, where layers of colored clay and pigments blend like reflections and ripples on water, expressing the soft and unhurried pace of midsummer.

Outside the Scope of Control 2023

Nerikomi is a technique that combines clays of different colors through wheel-throwing, hand-building, and polishing, creating unique interwoven patterns.

Because the materials expand differently during firing, cracks may appear, adding an element of uncertainty.

Through repeated layering and twisting, I try to control the formation of patterns, though complete mastery is impossible.

These traces become a dialogue between freedom and restraint, giving each piece its own distinct character.

Tea Room Balcony

Since 2023, I have been studying the art of tea.
Through the process of brewing, I gradually came to understand the philosophy that connects tea and ceramics — a harmony of rhythm, focus, and sensibility.
This understanding has led me to seek stillness in my ceramic practice and to find dialogue with myself through the medium of tea ware.
Over time, I began hosting tea ceremonies, weaving together making and hospitality as a way of daily cultivation.
